THINKING ABOUT…STRAY BULLETS #1

Thinking a lot about STRAY BULLETS and the journey Maria and I've been on for 21 (!?!) years….

I've never told this story, but before publishing we sent a copy of SB#1 to the great Harlan Ellison.

He called, very concerned, to tell us we were making a HUGE mistake and would destroy our careers.

To be fair, he had no idea where we were going with the series, and gave us props after seeing a few issues.

Still, to be told by one of the greatest sci-fi writers EVER that you SUCK and still push on takes some balls.

Maria and I were babies--we had nothing but each other and the arrogance of youth.

Haven't grown up much since then. Still arrogant as shit. So we're going to be around for a REALLY FUCKING LONG TIME!

Yes, that is a threat.

TOP 10 REASONS STRAY BULLETS SELLS 1/10TH OF WHAT IT SHOULD....

10. Awesomeness is so 1995.

9 . A complete story crushes the imagination.  An endless middle is so much more...expansive.

8. Yeah it's great, but I find its complete lack of respect for the continuity of the X-Men just plain rude.

7.  28+ pages is SO MUCH READING.  I mean, how long do the Laphams think a crap takes?!

6. Monthly is too menstrual.  I prefer my books gestationally.

5. I miss mainstream-hack Lapham.

4. What's Stray Bullets?

3.Three words: Burnt Caramel Frappuccino.  Priorities, people.

2. My crayons are worn out from coloring in the first 41 issues.

And the number one reason STRAY BULLETS sells 1/10th  what it should…

1. You hate comics.
